Areas of Learning

After the zoom meeting yeserday I felt I had alot to think about following the discussion surroudning areas of learning. I came up with five areas of learning that I can truly relate to and use refletive practise to explore different ideas. These five being; self belief, pressure, organisation, vunerability and accepting your flaws. A relfection on self belief for me is understanding you have to be your own biggest supporter. Looking back on my training I can see building my self belief led me to build on self motivation which is key to this ' be the best you can be' motto we hear alot as dancers. I also read an extract from a piece of text in which Evan Jones says 'professionals are aware of the continuous self-critical anaylsis and reflections for self improvment striving for perfection in performance' which had me thinking why on earth we do put all this pressure on ourselves and create this 'perfect' term in our heads to try and achieve a level of excellence that we have simply just made up. Self belief plays a huge part in my current life situation, I am working a full time job as a gymnastics instructor, I am taking dance classes to keep up with technique, I've just started studying again with this course AND super excting that auditions are back, so prepping dances and songs for them too. I figure this is alot on my plate but knowing I believe in myself to be able to complete each of these is enough to keep my motivation there and make time to do all of these things I am striving to achieve. We also discussed 'transferable skills' self belief is a skill I can bring with me in all walks of my life which I now begin to understand why it is so important to relfect on my past experiances. I find taking pen to paper extremely helpful for my ideas, thoughts, feelings and new information.
